Targeted: Two shot dead in separate acts of violence

Police said the victim was brought to the crime scene where he was shot multiple times.

At least two people, including an activist of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), were shot dead in separate acts of violence in the city on Thursday.


A Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) activist was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Orangi Town Sector 11½ within the limits of Pakistan Bazaar police station.

Police said the 35-year-old victim, identified as Muhammad Abid Shamim alias Lamba, was a resident of Gulshan-e-Ghazi and member of MQM's Unit 118-B. "The assailants riding a motorcycle, shot him three times in the head with a 9mm pistol and fled from the scene," said the duty officer at the police station, adding that the victim had earlier been arrested by the police for his involvement in various criminal activities. The body was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital and was later handed over to the family after completion of legal formalities.

In a separate incident, police officials found the body of an unidentified man from a garbage dump in Pak Colony. Police said the victim appeared to be in his early 40s and was brought to the crime scene where he was shot multiple times with a 9mm pistol. "The police did not find any identification documents with the deceased and his body awaits identification at the Edhi morgue," said the duty officer at the Pak Colony police station.
