PESHAWAR: Unidentified miscreants pasted a threatening poster on the rear boundary wall of Jinnah College for Women.

A police official told The Express Tribune the poster directly addressed the Vice Chancellor of Peshawar University, Rasool Jan. It stated: “Listen carefully, we just ran a trailer at Army Public School and the entire film would be shown here (at the Peshawar University). Do your best, you cannot stop us. There will be a pile of human bodies. It is revenge for killing our men.”

The threatening poster sent a wave of panic across the campus and the police beefed up security following the incident.

“Taking into account the current security situation in the city, you cannot ignore such kinds of threats despite the fact that it has been kept secret in order to not cause further panic among students and parents,” said the police official.

Speaking to The Express Tribune, a university official confirmed the threat, but added there was no poster. “We have been told that it was wall-chalking,” he said, adding it could be a practical joke but the police had still increased security and vigilance at the campus. The official said their policy was not to admit to such threats publicly.
