PESHAWAR:

The anti-corruption department on Wednesday sent former chief executive officer of Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) Parvez Akhtar Shah to Central Prison Peshawar.

Akhtar Shah was arrested over graft charges on Tuesday. He, however, opposed his physical custody saying he is a heart patient and should not be handed over the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) team probing the case.

FIA Inspector Shahid Ilyas told the court of Judge Syed Asghar Ali Shah that the accused reportedly embezzled Rs13million while supplying electricity to an Afghan refugee camp. He added further enquiry revealed the accused deposited the amount in bank accounts of his relatives.
