QUETTA: Six people, including three children, were killed and 17 others critically injured in a deadly road accident near Uthal area of Lasbela district on Sunday.

A passenger van was en route to Hub from Bela to attend a wedding ceremony when it met with the deadly accident on RCD highway, about 15 kilometers from Uthal.

“The tyres busted and broke down. The speeding van went off the road and over turned,” Fawad Sumorro, Deputy Commissioner Lasbela, told The Express Tribune.

“At least six people, including three children and a woman died on the spot while 17 others sustained serious injuries.”

Rescue workers and personnel of law enforcement agencies reached the site after half an hour of the incident.

The dead and injured were shifted to District Headquarters Hospital Uthal.

“At least six dead bodies, including three children, and 16 injured people were brought to the hospital,” Hassanullah, MS Uthal Headquarters Hospital, told The Express Tribune.

“Four are in critical condition,” he added.

Most of the injured have been shifted to Karachi owing to critical wounds.

“The death toll could rise,” the deputy commissioner said.
