Awami National Party’s Afrasiab Khattak, who is among the invitees, said both sides will exchange views for further improving bilateral relations. “As relations [between the two countries] have improved, we will discuss how to enhance cooperation against terrorism and how to expand economic ties,” he said.
The other invitees are Pashtoonkhkwa Milli Awami Party chief Mehmood Khan Achakzai, Qaumi Watan Party’s head Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao and ANP chief Asfandyar Wali. Asfandyar is unlikely to join the delegation as he is ill, said ANP sources.
In Kabul, the presidential spokesman said that the invitation to Pakistani leaders is aimed at “discussing ways to fight terrorism and to ensure security in border areas between the two countries.”
