Sometimes a word of encouragement, a pat on the back, a casual dress day and a meal to appreciate good work can go a long way in motivating employees to improve their performance at work.

According to the 2013 State of the Global Workplace report by Gallup, “To win customers — and a bigger share of the marketplace — companies must first win the hearts and minds of their employees.” To take up the challenge, therefore, here is the basic approach to employee motivation that can benefit many companies.
