FAISALABAD:

A six weeks-old boy who had been abducted from the Children’s Ward of the divisional headquarters hospital on December 27, was recovered from a parked rickshaw in front of the family’s home in Elahi Abad on Satiana Road on Tuesday.

The Civil Lines SHO told The Express Tribune that Rasheeda Bibi, wife of Rana Shaukat Ali, a resident of Street 4 Elahi Abad, brought her son Shehzad Ali for a check up to the DHQ hospital on December 27.

He said that she handed her child to an unidentified woman and went to the washroom. When she returned, the woman had disappeared along with the child.

She contacted the police and they looked for the woman and the child all over the hospital but couldn’t find them, he said. Police registered an abduction case and started investigations.

The SHO said on Tuesday, police received a call about a child abandoned in a rickshaw in front of the Rasheeda Bibi’s house in Elahi Abad. He said neighbours heard the child crying in the rickshaw and called the police.

The police took the child into custody and handed him over to his parents after completing documentation. The SHO said they were trying to trace the abductor(s).
