KARACHI:

The Sindh Police, as part of an extensive ongoing anti-terrorism training programme, initiated a course for ‘Post Blast Investigation’ on Thursday.

In this course, policemen are being given training using different vehicles subjected to experimental explosions. In one such exercise held at the police training centre in Saidabad, 35 officials from the bomb disposal squad and investigation unit learned about modern investigative techniques pertaining to blasts.

“This hands-on exercise is part of a three-day training that will be followed by regular refresher sessions,” a police department spokesperson said.

During the training, participants will be taught about the methods of explosions often used by anti-state elements, the ways to prevent them and how to manage such situations. They will also be required to demonstrate their skill in collecting evidence from explosion sites and presenting reports before senior officials.

To date, around 350 police officers have successfully completed different phases of training that are especially vital in the country’s current law and order scenario.

According to the spokesperson, skills needed to combat terrorism and insurgencies are also being imparted to the province’s policemen.
