FAISALABAD:

Federal Minister for Textile Industry Abbas Khan Afridi has acknowledged that the government has no choice but to ensure gas supply to the textile industry in an effort to help increase exports and strengthen the economy.

Addressing manufacturers and exporters at the Pakistan Textile Exporters Association (PTEA) on Tuesday, the minister stressed the need to formulate a comprehensive and long-term policy to fully exploit the potential of all related sectors of cotton.

He said the textile ministry is making efforts to bring the sector on track by redressing the problems on a priority basis. All stakeholders will be taken on board for truly exploiting the duty-free market access to EU.

“The government is fully aware of the problems hindering the textile sector and is extending full support and assistance for strengthening it as its top priority,” said Afridi.
