Red Carpet Roundup: Into the Woods red carpet NYC Premiere

There was nothing woody about this red-carpet!

UMNIA SHAHID December 14, 2014

The feature film edition of Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s beloved fairy tale-themed musical Into The Woods had its first breathtaking premiere. Held at the Ziegfeld Theatre in New York City, the star cast of the much-awaited Disney flick was dressed to slay. The night was overflowing with classy silhouettes and timeless style. Diversely styled dresses and refined patterns were an overriding trend. There was nothing woody about this red-carpet!

Meryl Streep

Three-time Academy Award winner plays the feared witch in the anticipated movie, a role originated on the stage by Bernadette Peters. She paid homage to her character in an intricately textured black Issy Miyake dress. The lining patterns on the dress that also featured a full-sleeves crisp buttoned blazer made it stand out from a distance. The 65-year-old beauty usually always dons a matured hair-tied-back updo on the red carpet, but she chose to part her elegant blonde locks in the middle, which created a really nice clean-cut look. She wore it down, giving a casual feel to her all-black outfit. With a grey smoky eye, auburn lips, accessorized with black suede boots and a Dolce & Gabbana bag, Streep’s look was classic, elegant and feminine.

Mackenzie Mauzy

The 26-year-old newcomer, who’s playing Rapunzel in the movie, stunned in a va-va-voom floor-kissing J Mendel gown. The majestically plain ivory number featured silver detailing from the hip to the hem and the halter neck line showcased her toned arms and clavicles at their best. The fitted dress also comprised of a thigh-high split giving the ensemble a chic yet sultry look. Keeping her lustrous reddish-gold locks loose, shiny and neat, the starlet went for a conspicuous red pout and bare eyes. Her accessories that consisted of basic diamond bracelets and rings were kept pretty minimal but definitely gave the outfit a unique vibe. Her understated silver Kate Spade black satin clutch paired with Jimmy Choo peep-toe heels complimented her jet-black mani-pedi.

Emily Blunt

The 31-year-old actor turned heads in a stunning black dress adorned with red carnations. Blunt appeared at the premiere in what can only be described as the kind of dress dreams are made of. The flouncy skirt, the sheer chiffon detailing, the rich crimson floral embroidery; we’re swooning as we type. Emily delved into Dolce & Gabbana’s AW14 collection for a statement look and we could not be more in love with the Italian design and the fairy-tale inspired look. From the mysterious key motifs and woodland oversized rose prints and feminine lace, this gown took us to fashion heaven. The Edge of tomorrow star styled her long brunette tresses in an elegant up-do with loose curls around her face. She accessorized her ensemble with black high heels and finished her look with a bold rouge lip to match with the red detailing.

Anna Kendrick

The actor definitely had hearts skipping beats when she arrived at the red carpet, where she debuted her new, sophisticated style. We don’t think we’ve ever seen Kendrick look as sleek as she did at the star glazed event. The Narciso Rodriguez monochromatic Pre-Fall 2015 number she rocked was absolutely stunning on the star. The cut being incredibly flattering elongated Anna’s petite 5 ft. 2 inch frame! The dress featured a leather waistband that perfectly creates variety in the otherwise monotone gown. Her muted make-up paid homage to the sleek black and white silk dress, which she paired with noir Brian Atwood sandals. The Pitch Perfect star looked so dapper, we’re wondering whether her simple yet fiercely contemporary style is here to stay.
