KARACHI: Unheralded Rambail Gul of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa continued his sizzling run at the Langnese Ranking Snooker Championship as he progressed into the final after beating Abdul Sattar 6-4 in the last-four round played at the NBP Sports Complex.

The semi-final proved a competitive affair as both cueists fought well, but Rambail finally prevailed with scores of 30-74, 77-14, 72-38, 90-0(90), 22-74, 11-61, 22-68, 72-52 and 46-35.

The other semi-final was still to be played between Muhammad Sajjad and Imran Shehzad till the filing of this report.

Sajjad appreciated new players coming up in the national circuit and believes that the standard of snooker has improved tremendously.

“It’s a positive sign that players like Rambail are making their presence felt in the national circuit,” Sajjad told The Express Tribune.

“In the yesteryears, we used to have four or five good players, but today we have around 15-16 outclass players who can beat anyone on their day.

“It’s not about only Muhammad Asif and me anymore. Youngsters like Muhammad Majid, Hamza Akbar and Asjad Iqbal have become dominant forces as well.”
