Regulation: New rules on private guards added

They will not be allowed to wear uniforms that resemble police or any other law enforcement agencies' uniforms

KARACHI: The Sindh home department has, under Section 144(6) of the Criminal Procedure Code, introduced new rules to govern the activities of private guards. They will not be allowed to wear uniforms that resemble police or any other law enforcement agencies' uniforms. Guards can also no longer wear black uniforms and must wear the prescribed blue uniforms that are approved by the home department. They are also prohibited from carrying weapons without an attested copy of the licence and other documents countersigned by a senior official of the company. The SHOs of the relevant police stations are authorised to register complaints under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code against those who violate these rules.
