PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Peshawar district president Yasin Khalil on Monday said around 50,000 people from Peshawar will participate in the upcoming rally of the party, adding the activists will pay for their own travel and lodging expenses.

PTI chief Imran Khan has announced to hold a public rally in Islamabad on November 30 to press the federal government to meet the party’s demands. As a result, district leaders have started gathering people for the convention.

Addressing a news conference at the Peshawar Press Club, Khalil vowed to make the rally a success.

Other office-bearers of the district also attended the presser. They said each union council of the party will have to draw up to 500 people to take part in the rally.

“The party’s resources have been exhausted by the prolonged sit-in, which has been going on for the last 100 days,” said the party’s general secretary of Peshawar, Younis Zaheer. “Therefore, each worker and leader would bear their own expenses to go to Islamabad. The party members would never use the government’s resources for political activities.”

A member of the provincial assembly, Zareen Zia, said women of the district are also ready to go to Islamabad to protest against the federal government. “This time, a huge number of women from Peshawar would be participating in the rally,” she said. “If any hurdle is created, the federal government would be responsible for the consequences.”

My question is where are 1 Million people Imran Khan had committed to bring to Islamabad. So Punjabis have refused to participate and PTI is forcing people to come from Peshawar using state machinery given its the ruling party there. What a shame
