LAHORE:

The Information Technology University’s (ITU) week-long workshop on Human-Centred Digital Design (HCD) came to a close on Friday.

According to a statement issued by the ITU, the workshop aimed to acquaint students, engineers and designers with technology-based solutions to tackle development challenges. The workshop included group discussions, case-study readings and research presentations covering contemporary issues in the field of Information and Communications Technology for Development (ICTD).

The resource person for the workshop was Dr Mike L Best of Georgia Institute of Technology, also an associate faculty of the Berkman Centre for Internet and Society at Harvard University.

Dr Best encouraged participants to conduct fieldwork and get in touch with potential stakeholders in their technology solutions to make sure that the product design catered to their needs.

At the closing session, Dr Best said, “I am impressed with the ITU’s strategic goals and their focus on HCD and ICT4D.”

He said Pakistan was blessed with the best human resource. “We need to train them and enable them to compete in the international market.”
