Ouchi said that Karachi is the key to economic growth in Pakistan

The consul-general of Japan, Akira Ouchi, visited the Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur, on Monday and delivered an extensive lecture to the students of the international relations department on Japan’s diplomacy and international contributions.


He said that Pakistan-Japan relations have always been friendly during the last 62 years since the two countries established diplomatic relations in April 1952.

According to Ouchi, South Asia is gaining importance in the international arena with its population of 1.6 billion and has geo-political importance.

As far as Pakistan is concerned, Japan dispatched its election observer mission at the time of the general election in May 2013.

Our observation was that Pakistan successfully held elections in a fair and transparent way and the government was transferred democratically, he said.

Ouchi said that Karachi is the key to economic growth in Pakistan as it has a large population of 18 million. He added that the key to success in the developing countries is education.

Basic education for all and higher education, especially in the area of science and technology, is important for economic development.
