Imran not capable of defending himself in SC: Pervaiz Rashid

Information minister requests Imran to step off his container and away from his crowds and play his role in Parliament

ISLAMABAD: Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid took a jab at the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief on Thursday, saying he is not capable of presenting himself in front of the Supreme Court to prove the rigging allegations he has repeatedly made.

"For the last few months, Imran has been sitting atop a container which is just a few steps away from the SC, yet he does not have the courage to appear before the court," the minister said while addressing the media outside Parliament House.

Rashid stated that Imran claimed he would present ballot papers which were allegedly were printed in Urdu Bazaar, prove how the returning officers were complicit in his loss in the elections, and prove how Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's speech and former chief justice Iftikhar Chaudhry's role had an adverse effect on him in the elections.

"As you know," he said, "The petitioner could not prove his allegations, and Imran Khan did not have the courage to get off his container and present himself in the SC."

"He did not present himself in front of the umpire," the information minister said, referring to the judiciary.

Rashid said Imran's lack of presence in the apex court could only mean two things; either, he is not playing by the rules or doesn't have the ability to play by the rules, and that he does not have the ability to present himself in front of the 'umpire'.

"He can only present his case in front his crowd of supports, in front of empty seats," he said.

"My request to him (Imran) would be to present himself in Parliament and play his role," said Rashid.

Imran Khan knows that his allegations lack substance and cannot be substantiated by proof, hence he is crying foul daily to pressurise the judiciary or military of overthrowing NS. Good decision by the court. Imran khan should be told to pay the government lawyers fee as well for filing bogus cases that waste time.
