According to details Bukhari was leading the evening prayers when a man threw a bottle of kerosene on him. However, the Imam remained unharmed in the incident.
The attacker, who is identified as Kamaluddin, 32, was immediately nabbed by the personal security officers of Bukhari and later handed over to local police. Kamaluddin is a resident of 24-Parganas district of West Bengal.
“The incident took place when the Imam was leading maghrib namaz (evening prayer). A man suddenly threw a plastic bottle which had kerosene at him from behind. The attacker was caught by Imam’s PSOs. He has been taken to the nearby police station,” said Imam’s official spokesperson Amanullah.
Additional Commissioner of Police (Central) Alok Kumar said that the man has been taken into custody and is being questioned.

@Patriot: No it was not. It was auto rishawala who attacked and slapped him. Because Kejriwal's had promised janta Darbaar to hear each and every poor man's complain. And this frustrated guy wasn't allowed to meet even after standing at janta Darbaar line in sun everyday. Though he regretted and apologised later to him after Ak met him at his home and put forth his point and is now his devotee. But the poor guy wasn't bjp agent instead a frustrated common man. You are yet to answer for most corrupt person of india Sharad Pawar. Please go and see what they did to the man who slapped him. As far as modi, yes maybe some will but what you forget is fifty times the number will come to protect him, which these people won't have the privilege you know. He has earned that respect and loyalty because of efficient work ethics and economic development model he achieved for past 12 years and no single corruption case against him. He has made common mans life easier removing bureaucratic mess made governance easy and effective.i hope he can repeat that on pan india level.

Kamaluddin cannot be a muslim. Muslims do not attack other muslims.
Well one more added on the list. Welcome Bukhari. All corrupt,biased politicians,mp, MLAs and their endorsing chumchas get welcome with chappals, black paint,slaps, abuses,hits and oil attack from frustrated common man in india. If ex BCCI controller/agriculture minister and o so powerful Sharad Pawar, Kejriwal, Chidambaram etc was not sparred why expect special privileges for a pawn? I always thought why bhukari was sparred for so long being congress agent and swinging loyalties to highest bidder and Briber election time attacking opposition political parties with frivolous allegation to change public opinion just before Election Day. No wonder most politicians roam with z plus security they themselves know the ire of public they will face once that security goes away.
