Book launch: Love conquers ethnic differences, says Altaf

Claims Jinnah changed opinion due to attitude of Hindus

ISLAMABAD: We can overcome ethnic differences by changing approach and mindset through love and tolerance, as love is beyond boundaries and bears stronger links than that of blood, religious affections or regional and language based alliances.

This was stated by Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain at the launching ceremony of the English version of his book ‘The Philosophy of Love’ here Friday evening.

He said all differences would end automatically once we will demonstrate our love for the country, as it breeds sense of equalitarianism, tolerance, fairness and justice, and respect for others, like education, adding that it also brings patience, peace and harmony in societies.

He said Allama Iqbal was a loyal and true lover of combined India, while Quaid-e-Azam also disputed division of subcontinent.  He said Quaid-e-Azam joined All India Congress in early years of his politics and he was a staunch supporter for freedom of combined India.  Jinnah just demanded share in power for Muslims in proportion to their population. However, hatred and intolerant attitude of Hindus compelled him to struggle for a separate state for Muslims of the subcontinent, Altaf claimed.

The MQM leader said the division of the subcontinent was unavoidable due to the circumstances created by extreme mindset of Hindus of that time.

“There is no tradition in Pakistan to talk on issues related to the subject of equality, tolerance and respect for others,” he said. Altaf strongly censured the government for taking a large number of people on Hajj “by spending taxpayers’ money”.

Dear MQM, Hire a PR agency & get some professionals on board; coming in the news everyday for trivialities is absurd & does not give you any political mileage.
