MULTAN: The Pakistan Baitul Mal signed an agreement on Sunday with the Multan Institute of Cardiology to provide financial aid to needy patients.
The agreement was signed by Baitul Mal Managing Director Abid Waheed Sheikh and Multan Institute of Cardiology Executive Director Rana Altaf.
Under the agreement, Baitul Mal will provide financial assistance to patients in Multan Institute of Cardiology for emergency medical procedures.
A board, constituted by the Multan Institute of Cardiology, will recommend patients for receiving financial aid from Baitul Mal. The hospital’s executive director will head the board.
At the signing ceremony, Sheikh said the department would also donate 50 wheelchairs to the hospital.
Talking to The Express Tribune, Altaf said the agreement had been signed on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s directions.
“We thank the prime minister for arranging regular assistance for needy patients at the institute.
The agreement will encourage other organisations to do the same,” he said.
“The government is also considering building a separate unit of pediatrics cardiac surgery and diagnosis at the Multan Institute of Cardiology.
Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar had earlier assured us that Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif will soon announce the project under the government’s health policy,” he said.
