MANSEHRA: A teenage boy committed suicide over a dispute with his mother in Bragar village, Mansehra Sunday morning.

According to a police report, Reshmaan Bibi asked her 17-year-old son Jamshed to bring some fodder for their cows from the family’s fields. However, Jamshed insisted on going to play a cricket match with his friends.

Reshmaan Bibi reprimanded her son and did not give him permission to leave the house, the report added, leaving Jamshed cross at his mother over her response. According to the police, he went to his room and shot himself in the temple with a 30-bore pistol.

The teenager was rushed to Darband Hospital but he died before he could be treated.

One of the deceased’s family members, however, offered another version of events leading up to the boy’s suicide. They told the police Jamshed was in a relationship with a girl from the same village. They said Reshmaan Bibi was against her son’s affair, causing tension in the family.
