LAHORE:

An under-training civil servant of the Audit and Accounts Group died in a fire on Tuesday.

Police said Nabeeha Chaudhry, 27, a resident of Karachi, was staying at the girls’ hostel of the audit and accounts department’s academy on Guru Mangat Road.

An under-training civil servant at the academy, requesting anonymity, told The Express Tribune that other trainees heard a small blast from Chaudhry’s room at around 4pm. The room was locked from the inside and smoke was issuing out of the door.

Trainees at the hostel believed she had died of electrocution.

The administration broke down the door and found the girl burnt to death.

CIA SP Umer Virk said they had collected evidence and sent it to the forensic laboratory for examination. He said police will ascertain the cause of death after the report arrived.
