KARACHI: After launching her bridal wear and, more recently, her designer jewelery, Shehla Chatoor is all set to launch her complete look. Inspired by florals and pearls, ‘Vintage Garden’, is an Eastern luxury pret collection, which will accompany accessories like hand embroidered box clutches and jewellery items. “I have been doing shoes and bags for more than 15 years now. I want to deliver a complete look. All major international design houses have their own accessory and jewellery line to complement their clothes,” Chatoor tells The Express Tribune.

These individual accessories are not restricted to be carried with her outfits only, for instance, the embroidered vintage box-clutch can be carried with a plain sari, a cocktail dress, and even with denims and a shirt. “The jewelery has a vintage feel to it and can be worn with eastern or western ensemble, at a dinner, or a wedding,” she says. Vintage Garden is inspired from all things vintage, be it floral vintage tapestries or brooches, pearls, laces and pastel hues, which form the core of this collection. “It is a very dreamy and romantic collection that has a charm of its own,” she says.

As far as calling this collection minimalistic is concerned, Chatoor says that the term itself is very subjective and may vary from person to person. “I believe the understanding of the word minimalist is different for everyone. As far as Vintage Garden is concerned, like all our luxury pret collections, it has the right balance of design, style and technique.”

Primarily known for designing outfits, Chatoor taps new territory by including accessories in her offerings. One wonders whether this would actually work as positively for her as the outfits did.  “Yes, for me it is always easy to design just clothes and leave the accessories to the clients. But then, I have never chosen the easy road. I want my clients to get the complete look”. The jewellery and accessories line is there to compliment the look or just to be bought as separate pieces to be teamed with other outfits. “They do not restrict the clients. That is the beauty of it,” says Chatoor.
