As compared to previous Eids, no major incidents of violence were reported in the city during the hide collection drives. It seemed that several political parties and charity organisations had decided to go with a passive approach.
According to the Karachi police spokesperson Atiq Shaikh, all credit should go to the law enforcement agencies who were on duty on all three days of Eid and carried out snap checks everywhere.
The police, he said, also provided charities and political parties with security while transferring hides from their temporary collection points to the main repositories.
