"It is our democratic right to chant slogans against the government. However, it is undemocratic to beat up people who are protesting," the PTI chief said, during his rally in Mianwali, while referring to the Wazirabad incident on October 1 when a PML-N MPA beat up people as they chanted the viral slogan.
"I won't mind if people chant Go Imran Go," Imran said, claiming he does not understand why the chant bothers the PML-N leadership.
Beaming with pride at the "sea" of people present at his rally, Imran mockingly asked Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to mobilise 30 per cent of the people present for his own rally. "If you are able to gather 30 per cent of these people then we will consider that you (PM Nawaz) did not rig elections."
Reiterating that he will not end his ongoing sit-in, the PTI chief asked the premier not to resign right now so he can "awaken" the rest of the nation.
Further, Imran thanked the people of his hometown, Mianwali for their constant support and for paving his way into the National Assembly.
"When no one supported me you did," he said, adding, "I could never forget what the people of Mianwali have done for me."
Earlier today, while talking to media representatives in Bani Gala before leaving for Mianwali, the PTI chief announced that he’ll be holding a rally in Larkana on November 21.
“VIP culture is being eliminated gradually,” the PTI chief said, adding the government was forced into reducing the price of petrol and not increasing electricity rates due to the pressure created by the sit-ins on the government.
“This is better than winning any election.”
PAT rallies
Following in PTI’s steps, Pakistan Awami Tehreek chief Dr Tahirul Qadri also announced that he will be spreading his movement and will hold rallies in Faisalabad on October 12 and at Minar-e-Pakistan in Lahore on October 19.

@F Khan: I don't mind difference of opinion, in fact I welcome it, if it is based on facts. Stating that the protestors shouting Go Nawaz Go were crashing a PMLN party is not true and therefore your whole premise of the argument falls appart. In this case there is no justification for the PMLN MPA beating up people, nor Maryam Nawaz's encouragement of it.
I have yet to see a PMLN leader or supporter condemn this beating up of citizens who were just excercizing their democratic right. What is wrong is wrong and it would take maturity of thought to call it regardless of party allegiance - but alas this shows PMLN is rife with Gulloo Butt mentality. In the US people shout slogans against Obama all the time, but if any politician beat them up he/she would be taken to jail right away and justice would be promptly served, and he/she would be kicked out of the party. But in Pakistan PMLN leaders like Maryam rather than condemning the act actually encourage it. That's why we need a new Pakistan.
Its definitely not the right time to chant political slogans when our Prime minister visits UN or flood affected victims. It is immature for Khan to say that he wont mind Go Imran Go slogans. Right now, he is opposition leader, we will see how he tolerates it once he becomes PM.

@salman@ Rawalpindi Kid: I am not a PMLN voter nor a NS fan.I have only voted three time in my life.Once BB in 1987, MQM ( early 1990's, for which I am sorry) and IK (2005, than only 6 people voted for IK in my booth). Giving a view which you do not like does not mean that one is distorting facts or making excuses for somebody. Accept disagreements open-heartedly, that is also a part of democracy/politics.Sometime people do not give comments just because they have political objective(s).
@F Khan: The problem with PMLN supporters is that either they lie about facts or maybe are just ignorant. Please re-check the news, it was not a PMLN party meeting where the Go Nawaz Go protesters were beaten up by the PMLN MPA. Nawaz Sharif was visiting the flood victims where people gathered and chanted slogans against him. People have every democratic right to tell Nawaz to resign if they are not happy with him, and it is no one's right to beat them up for excercising their democratic right. Please refrain from distorting facts to make your point.
@F Khan: Bro, it wasn't a PMLN function, it was an aid distribution event. And PTI hadn't sent anyone to that function, people just naturally started shouting go Nawaz go. And "same currency" is shouting slogans, not beating up protesters. You don't need to make excuses for her....everyone knows she got it wrong this time.
Absolutely right but please do understand that it's also a democratic right to not to chant that. If someone doesn't follow you he doesn't necesserily have to be a "patwari".

Yes, its PTI right to chant 'Go Nawaz Go' and do 'Dharna's' but it's not their democratic right to go in PMLN functions party meetings and chant 'Go Nawaz Go'.Lets take it like this, if PNML send few workers and do the same in PTI dharnas how would Khan Sb/PTI feel. That's what Maryam has tweeted that we will respond in the same currency, and she is very right. The others also have democratic rights , respect them, otherwise no one will respect your's either.
It is no one's democratic right to demand unconstitutional change in the executive. That undermines the entire system of democratic rights by definition.
Yes every one has right to chant GO NAWAZ GO. But not at function were it is not welcome. Other people also have right to their peace.
