Two drug peddlers, political worker killed in separate incidents

KARACHI: Five people were killed in separate targeted attacks in different parts of the metropolis on Wednesday.

Two alleged drug peddlers were killed during a gun battle between two rival gangs of drug dealers. The incident took place at Chanesar Goth, Mehmoodabad, when two groups of drug peddlers clashed with each other and an exchange of fire ensued.

The two men were taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) where they succumbed to their injuries during treatment. The deceased were later identified as Wali Dad, 28, son of Wali Muhammad, and Faisal, 25, son of Abdul Kareem.

In another incident, a worker of the Sunni Tehreek was shot dead in an act of target killing in New Karachi. The deceased was later identified as Muhammad Hussain. Police officials said that unidentified men riding a motorcycle gunned him down near his house. He received multiple bullets and was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital. He succumbed to his injuries during treatment.

Separately, a young man was found dead in Malir City. The body was taken to JPMC where he was later identified as Zohaib Iqbal, 23. He was a resident of Sahib Dad Goth in Malir. Police officials said that unidentified men had kidnapped and killed him before dumping his body. The motive behind the incident has yet to be ascertained.

Meanwhile, a mother of five children was found dead inside her house located within the limits of the Frere police. The deceased was later identified as 30-year-old Sadia, wife of Jahangir. Police officials said that the woman was apparently tortured to death by her husband. They added that the husband has been missing since the incident. A case has been registered while further investigations are under way.
