RAWALPINDI:

An armed clash left a man dead and two, including a woman, injured in the Banni area of Rawalpindi, said a media report on Tuesday.

The incident took place in Bagh-e-Sardaran on Monday night when Ashfaq Hussain, a resident of Dhoke Mangtal, along with three accomplices, identified as Arslan Gohar, Saddam Khan and Ali Rehman, opened fire at Ashfaq Butt while he was standing outside his house.

Hearing gunshots outside, the deceased’s mother and a neighbour rushed outside and found Butt lying on the ground. The armed assailants opened fire at the mother of the deceased and the neighbour too when they tried to rescue Butt.

As a result, both of them were injured. The woman is stated to be in critical condition at the District Headquarters Hospital. Butt and Hussain had some differences over a monetary issue, said an official who is investigating the case.

After the shooting, residents overpowered the armed assailants and handed them over to the local police who are investigating the case. Meanwhile, Imtiaz Hussain approached the same police that auto-thieves have stolen his motorcycle (RIK-3709) from outside his house in Rehman Pura. The police registered a case against the thieves.
