Fishing jetty: NAB files reference against BCDA officials

Employees embezzled over Rs234.59 million

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has filed a reference against Muhammad Azam Pathan, ex-director general of Balochistan Coastal Development Authority (BCDA), the chief engineer of authority and eight others in the Accountability Court Quetta on Monday accusing them of embezzling Rs234.59 million.


In this case the accused persons maneuvered the tendering process for the construction of a fishing jetty in Dam, Lasbela district in favour of Agha Gul Construction Company.

The Balochistan government had earmarked huge amount for the “Fish Landing Jetty and Onshore Facilities,” NAB spokesman said, adding construction of the said project was to be completed during 2006 -2008.

During investigation, it was learnt that Azam Pathan in connivance with other employees of the authority and contractor embezzled over Rs234.59 million.

Irfan said that the Executive Board Meeting of NAB held on August 13 had approved to file a reference against Azam Pathan and others.
