A security clampdown has been imposed ahead of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to India later this week, The Economic Times reported citing senior officials.

Outlining the security plan, Gujarat Director General of Police (DGP) P C Thakur said that given Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also be in town on the same day, security arrangements will be of international level.

The DGP recently held a top-level meeting with police officials in the city to ensure the strict enforcement of security measures and better co-ordination among different agencies ahead of the Chinese leader’s visit.

President Xi is expected to land at Ahmedabad airport at around 2:30pm on Wednesday and will be driven to Grand Hyatt Hotel in Vastrapur area.

After holding a high-level meeting at the hotel, Xi is scheduled to visit Sabarmati Ashram and then take a walk and have dinner with Modi on the Sabarmati Riverfront, before flying to New Delhi, official sources said.

“Our activity on that day will mainly revolve around controlling all the access points of route as well the venue, surveillance and taking anti-sabotage measures. At present, we have also secured these areas and kept them under constant surveillance” Thakur said.

It's high time that Pak realizes that China is not their all weather friend. Look at all the aspects, the Chinese are always taking 100 times more interest in India, rather than Pak. Today wars are not fought on battlefields, they are fought on stock markets. India and China have realised it.
