Asif eases into second round of snooker event

Cueists beats Raheem 4-2 in national ranking tournament opener.

Former IBSF World Champion Mohammad Asif got off to a winning start in the 6th NBP Ranking Snooker Championship after beating Abdul Raheem 4-2 in the opening day matches.


Asif’s scores of 61-55, 17-88, 69-23, 56-43, 34-86 and 74-50(66) matched Asjad Iqbal’s, who defeated Fawad Khan.

Meanwhile, Aneel Emanule stunned Muhammad Bilal in a seven-setter despite trailing 2-0 initially, winning with a scoreline of 21-61, 32-64, 62-35, 60-14, 65-47, 54-62 and 60-03.

Imran Shehzad had an easy outing against Nauman Awan as he triumphed 4-1, while Sohail Shehzad outshone Mohammad Faheem 4-2.

Muhammad Zaheer notched a shocking 4-1 win against Sharjeel Mehmood, while youngster Haris Nadeem overpowered Babar Masih 4-2.

In other matches on the day, Khurram Agha had to work hard to earn a 4-3 win against Khizar Aziz and Yasir Shehzad outplayed Najeebullah.
