HSSC-I: Students seek extension in admission deadline

Students and their parent have urged the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) to extend deadline for admission and registration for Intermediate Part-I students after many failed to submit applications due to closure of the city amid sit-ins

The merit lists have been displayed at the colleges but due to unavailability of public transport, the students could not complete the admission formalities which include submission of an undertaking on stamped paper, proof of residence and academic certificates.

“The PTI and PAT sit-ins have crippled the admission process of grade-11 in Islamabad so FBISE should extend admission dates,” said Shahid Khan, who wanted to submit his son’s application for the admission.

According to the notification issued by FBISE on June 18, 2014, the affiliated colleges were allowed to finalise their admissions till August 30. The colleges, however, were allowed to accept application till September 9 with extra Rs600 charges.

The last date for registration was September 30. The educational institutions of the city were to reopen on August 11 after summer vacations, but the FDE rescheduled the reopening of the educational institutions thrice due to sit-ins in the capital.

President Federal Government College Teachers Association (FGCTA) Professor Sagheer Ahmed Mirani urged the FBISE to extend the admission and registration date to facilitate the students and their parents. “The ongoing sit-ins have disturbed the academic schedule,” he said.
