Actor Akshay Kumar, who is the ultimate daredevil of Bollywood, undertook the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge in the chilly environs of Cape Town, where he’s shooting for television show Dare 2 Dance. Akshay took to Twitter to share the link of a video in which he is seen taking up the challenge with 11 contestants of Dare 2 Dance throwing ice cold water on him in an open area, reported IANS.

“I am in Cape Town and the temperature here is eight degrees. My friend Riteish Deshmukh has dared me to take the Ice Bucket Challenge and I’m ready,” said Akshay.” The water left Akshay feeling the chill, following which he ran to get a towel from a crew member.

The online campaign challenges people to either douse themselves with a bucket of ice water over their heads or donate to support research for a neurodegenerative disease. When a person accepts the ice bucket challenge, he or she must challenge another person to participate in the fundraising effort. Akshay nominated his wife, Twinkle Khanna, and friends Ashvini Yardi, Salman Khan and Johnny Lever to take the challenge, which has recently gone viral.

In Hollywood, actor Gwyneth Paltrow became the first celebrity to participate in the Ice Bucket Challenge and posted the video of her taking up the challenge on her Instagram account. Interestingly, she nominated her estranged husband, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, for the challenge, reported Time. After nearly a decade of marriage and two kids, Paltrow, 41, and Martin, 37, announced their split in March. Martin is currently dating actor Jennifer Lawrence and the two have Paltrow’s blessings.
