Young minds: Results out for 9th class

Pass percentage for Multan division was 42.59.

The Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education in the province announced the results of Class 9th examinations (Secondary School Examination Part One) on Thursday. 


In Lahore, of the 240,306 candidates who appeared in the examination, 91,558 were declared successful with the pass percentage of 38.10 per cent. Girls outscored boys in all groups. Of the 87,304 boys candidates of Science group, 29,355 passed the exam with the pass percentage of 33.51. In Science group 58,540 girls took the exam and 29,882 passed – a pass percentage of 51.04.

In Arts group, 45,156 boys appeared in the exam; 10,074 were declared successful with the pass percentage of 22.30.

Of the 49,297 girl candidates of Arts group, 22,347 passed the exam with the pass percentage of 45.33.

The Sargodha Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Chairman Sirajul Haq said 97,495 candidates took the examination and 35,635 of them succeeded.

Gujranwala Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education said the pass percentage for the exam was 36.55. Of the 140,088 students who sat the exam, 87,334 passed.

The Dera Ghazi Khan Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education said the pass percentage for the exam was 38.78. Examination Deputy Controller Sheikh Amjad Hussain said 30,353 out of 78,251 candidates cleared their exam. Hussain said 41.36 per cent of regular candidates passed the exam – 28,192 out of 68,156 students. Among external candidates, of the 10,095 who attempted the exam, 2,161 cleared it (21.40 per cent). He said cases were registered against 11 students for using illegal means to pass their exams.

In Multan, 109,249 candidates took the exam and 46,533 passed. The pass percentage was 42.59. In the Science group (boys), 37,034 candidates out of 83,156 candidates passed the exam (44.53 per cent). In the Arts group (boys), 26,093 candidates sat the exam and 9,499 of them cleared it (36.40 pass percentage). In Science group (girls), 77,644 sat the test and 36,009 passed (46.37 pass percentage). Among regular girl students, 17,138 sat the exam and 6,698 succeeded (39.08 percentage). Among the external candidates, 8,955 girls took the exam and 2,801 cleared it (31.27 percentage).

In Faisalabad, 153,978 students sat the exam and 63,184 succeeded (41.03 percentage). In the Science group, 60,421 boys and 35,072 girls took the exam and the composition for arts group was 27,263 boys and 30,057 girls. The results are also available on the BISE’s website.
