Annual reports: FTO, FPSC chiefs brief president

The report says that an amount of Rs8.23 billion was refunded to the taxpayers.

ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain has urged the Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) for undertaking more vigorous steps to provide justice to the taxpayers aggrieved by tax maladministration in the country. The president said this while speaking to FTO Abdur Rauf Chaudhry who visited his office to present the institution’s annual report 2013 on Friday. According to the report, the FTO decided 1,856 complaints out of the total 1,898 complaints received in 2013. Over 1,438 complaints (77.48%) were decided in favour of the taxpayers during 2013. The report says that an amount of Rs8.23 billion was refunded to the taxpayers on FTO’s recommendations. The report covers the functions, activities, and recommendations of the Commission for the last calendar year focusing on the recruitments by FPSC during 2013 including Central Superior Services Competitive Examination.
