PESHAWAR: A constable of Daudzai police was injured in an encounter with highwaymen in Naguman on Monday.

The police had been informed about the presence of some suspicious people near the Afghan refugee camp in Naguman. When a police mobile went to check it, the bandits opened fire at the vehicle in which a constable, Mumtaz Ilahi, was injured. The bandits were able to escape but the police went searching for them as there were reports that at least one of them was injured.

After several hours, police was able to locate the accused, Rehmatullah, from the clinic of a local physician, Dr Wisal.

Despite the fact that it is against the law to treat a man with bullet injuries without informing the police, the doctor treated him, said the police.

“An FIR has been registered against the accused and the doctor,” said an official of Daudzai police station while talking to The Express Tribune.
