Know-how: Japanese experts to provide technical assistance

Jica will provide technical experts for marketing and capacity building of garment technology institutes.

Japanese International Cooperation Agency (Jica) will provide technical assistance to the Ministry of Textile Industry for capacity building of the textile sector work force in the country.


Jica director general on Tuesday called on Minister for Textile Industry Abbas Khan Afridi and informed the minister that the body would provide technical experts for marketing, vocational training for women and capacity building of garment technology institutes.


The Jica official said that at present, three initiatives had been identified one each at the Ministry of Textile Industry, Faisalabad Garment City and Pakistan Knitwear Training Institute, Lahore.


He said that these initiatives will begin next year after formalities have been completed. The minister said that the upcoming textile policy will focus on skill enhancement and export promotion for which Jica’s support would be crucial.
