LAHORE:

The Punjab Healthcare Commission said on Saturday that it had registered more than 800 healthcare establishments (HCEs) in the province since July 2013.

The commission also issued provisional licences to 401 HCEs for the implementation of minimum service delivery standards (MSDS) during the same period. The PHC shared the information while releasing an overview report. A spokesperson for the commission also spoke on the occasion.  “Around 131 public and private sector hospitals having capacity of more than 50 beds [each] have been inspected by the PHC inspection teams,” the report said.

The hospitals included all major public and private hospitals located in 36 districts, including Lahore, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Multan, Bahawalpur, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Sahiwal and Dera Ghazi Khan.

“As a result of these inspections, 17 hospitals were found eligible for issuance of a regular licence,” the report said.

The spokesperson said the PHC team had visited five districts and inspected 12 hospitals in the current week, including Sheikh Zayed Hospital, Nawaz Sharif Social Security Hospital, Qazi Hospital and Sarwat Anwar Medical Complex in Lahore; Faisalabad International Hospital and Mian Muhammad Trust Hospital in Faisalabad; Al Rae Hospital and Hawa Memorial Hospital in Gujranwala; Sialkot Medical Complex and Memorial Hospital in Sialkot; and Medicare Hospital and City Hospital in Multan.
