Asian junior runner-up Mohammad Majid Ali opened his campaign at the 15th Asian U21 Snooker Championship with a straight-frames win over India’s Nikhil Saigal in Mohali, India on Saturday.
Majid refused to let his opponent gain the upper hand and completed a 4-0 rout with a scoreline of 87-33, 85-31, 83-09 and 98-01.
Meanwhile, compatriot Haris Nadeem was involved in a rollercoaster match against Hong Kong’s Man Ming Wa.
Nadeem took the first frame only for Man Ming to cancel out the lead; however, the Pakistani regained his one-frame advantage immediately. Both players refused to back down though, as Man Ming drew parity; this was short-lived as Nadeem made it 3-2.
The game went into the decider after Man Ming drew the match 3-3; but Nadeem came back with scores of 51-41, 12-49, 60-19, 44-60, 60-17, 06-70 and 81-46.
