Unsupportive family: Transgender takes own life

A transgender allegedly commits suicide by jumping into well.

HARIPUR: A transgender allegedly committed suicide by jumping into a well on Friday. According to the deceased’s family, the motive behind the suicide is said to be unemployment. Police said 26-year-old Hameedullah alias Komal, a resident of Pind Hashim Khan village, had been living with her guru Nazli in the city and would dance at weddings which was not acceptable to her family. On Friday, Komal came home for some work and her father started taunting her over her profession which infuriated her. She later ran out of the house and jumped into an open well nearby. Locals recovered the body from the well after an hour. Meanwhile, a man was stabbed to death in Dheri Sikandarpur village on Friday. Qaisar Mehmood lodged a complaint with the Saddar police stating that Yusuf, his domestic servant, had an old dispute with Akhtar Zaman and Jehangir and was allegedly killed by them while going to a nearby shop.
