A local leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz from Matta tehsil was killed and his friend was injured when unidentified militants opened fire at them on Tuesday.


Matta police station ASI Muhammad Ashraf said Garan Khan was on his way to Matta at around 2pm with his friend Bacha Ali when unidentified men attacked their vehicle.

As a result, the 38-year-old PML-N leader was killed on the spot, while his friend was injured.

Police rushed to the site after receiving information about the incident but residents had already taken Ali to a hospital.

He was later shifted to Saidu Sharif Hospital where his condition was said to be stable.

Two years back, Muhammad Iqbal, father of the deceased, was also shot dead while praying at a mosque in the month of Ramazan.
