DI KHAN:

The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) secretary for local government has transferred the chief municipal officer of the district and replaced him with an official from Hangu, Atiqur Rehman.

Chief Municipal Officer Sardar Sohail Khan Sadozai’s transfer was made in the wake of public complaints of alleged corruption, irregularities, and illegal recruitments in the municipal committee of DI Khan.

A few days ago, workers of the municipal committee were finally paid one month’s salary out of the three months’ salaries that had been delayed by the government.

Union leader of municipal committee’s staff Qasir Kamrani thanked the provincial government for giving them their month’s salary but demanded the payment of salaries for the other two months. He also lauded the transfer of Sadozai, stating it had been one of their longstanding demands.

Municipal workers had been protesting against the nonpayment of their salaries for long and the city’s cleanliness was suffering as a result.
