Police, Rangers personnel and the Bomb Disposal Squad have reached the site of the explosion and the area has been cordoned off.
There have been no reports of casualties or serious injuries.
In a separate incident, police foiled an attempt to blow up a railway track in Sadiqabad, Rahim Yar Khan. According to the police, two three-kilogramme bombs were planted on the railway track and have been defused.

The blast took place a day after at least 17 people — including a woman and five children — were killed and nearly four dozen wounded when a passenger train was bombed at Sibi railway station.
The banned United Baloch Army (UBA) had claimed responsibility for the attack on Jaffar Express which was en route from Quetta to Rawalpindi.
On March 31, Akbar Bugti Express was attacked with rocket-propelled grenades in Bolan which had left two people dead.
