KARACHI: PAF thrashed KPT 4-0 in the semi-final of the National Football Challenge Cup 2014 at KPT Stadium on Thursday, while K-Electric brushed aside HBL 1-0 to book their place in the final.

KPT, who defeated defending champions NBP to reach the semi-finals, looked out of sorts and failed to contain PAF.

On the other hand, PAF continued with their quarter-final form where they won against KRL. Their key striker Muhammad Mujahid scored the opening goal in the ninth minute of the match.

Mujahid carried on the momentum after the interval as well and doubled the lead for PAF in the 65th minute, whereas Muhammad Imran contributed with his goal in the 76th minute as Ahmed Akbar sealed the victory in the 85th minute.

“We deserve to win the final now,” PAF assistant coach Arshad Khan told The Express Tribune. “The final will be a tough one, because K-Elecrtic are also proving themselves a strong contender for the title, but I have confidence that my players are good enough to win this tournament.

“We defeated KRL as well, and my team is improving with each match.”

Meanwhile, in the second semi-final, K-Electric dominated the field.

HBL contained last year’s runners-up in the first-half, but Nigerian striker Oludeyi ‘Sunday’ Abayomi scored the winner in the 71st minute of the match to guide K-Electric to victory.
