Deal gone wrong: 100kg of heroin seized

Assistant political agent says they had received intelligence about a cache of drugs being supplied via Jamrud.

Around 100 kilogrammes of heroin was recovered from a vehicle in Jamrud tehsil of Khyber Agency on Tuesday.


The assistant political agent of Jamrud subdivision, Jehangir Azam Wazir, told the media that they had received intelligence about a cache of drugs being supplied via Jamrud.

Acting on this, he had told khasadar officials at the check post to stay alert. Wazir said at 9am, a van en route to Karkhano check post from Jamrud was directed to stop by a khasadar official at the Bigyari check post.

The driver, however, sped away. He was identified as Noor Gulab, a resident of Manya Khel in Jamrud. After a chase, the khasadar officials caught up with him and arrested the driver. During a check, they seized the heroin which was kept in four sacks.

The driver was taken to Jamrud tehsil jail and a case was filed against him.
