German ambassador says GSP Plus status is an opportunity to Pakistan to improve its relations with the European Union.

FAISALABAD:

Germany will facilitate Pakistan in getting maximum benefits from the newly-acquired GSP Plus status and extensive vocational training programmes will be launched to improve the quality and quantity of exportable surplus from Pakistan, said Dr Cyrill Nunn, German Ambassador, while talking with the textile exporters of Faisalabad on Tuesday.

Addressing members of the Pakistan Textile Exports Association (PTEA), the ambassador said that the GSP Plus status is an opportunity to Pakistan to improve its relations with the European Union (EU). Pakistan will have a competitive edge in the EU markets and this facility will contribute to the reduction of poverty and promotion of sustainable development by giving a boost to the trading industry.

PTEA Chairman Sheikh Ilyas Mahmood said that the GSP Plus will help the sagging economy of Pakistan and give a quantum jump to its exports.

Why is it that we only talk about textile when it comes to Pakistani exports ?

Does Pakistan has any potential and plan to diversify from relying so heavily on textile ?
