50 drivers register for Cholistan Jeep Rally

Schedule for jeep rally announced.

MULTAN:

The Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab (TDCP) on Tuesday announced the schedule of events for the 9th Cholistan Jeep Rally.

Addressing a press conference in Multan, Fayyaz Ahmed, the event manager, said events in connection with the rally would be held from February 14 to February 16.

“They include a cultural festival, organised by the provincial government, to promote peace and harmony,” he said. Other events include a camel race, a musical night, fireworks, paragliding and wrestling matches.

Ahmed said MNA Hamza Shahbaz would inaugurate the festival on Febrary 14. “The race will be held on February 16.” He said, “Ashna Patel, a women driver, will also take part in the jeep rally.” He said the 210-km jeep track had been approved.

The event manager said more than 80 drivers were expected to take part in the race. “Fifty have already registered themselves… 11 check posts have been set up on the track.”

He said the provincial government had allocated Rs6 million for the rally and the festival.

Ahmed said the Bahawalpur district administration the TDCP had completed the arrangements.

“More than 300 security men will be deployed for the event,” he said.
