According to a PAF spokesperson, both the pilot and co-pilot lost their lives as their French built Mirage aircraft crashed.
The spokesperson added that an inquiry has been launched to ascertain the cause of the crash.
No loss of civilian lives or property was reported in the area where the aircraft crashed.
Eye witnesses stated that the pilots lost their lives while trying to avoid crashing the aircraft into a populated area.
In June 2012, a Pakistani fighter jet had crashed in the south of the country while on a routine training mission, but the pilot had ejected safely and there were no casualties on the ground.
Similarly, in May 2012, a Mirage aircraft crashed near the Sonmiani region of Balochistan. The pilot survived the crash.

@indian: Two men lost their lives and you think its time of sarcasm? Your comments reflects what kind of personality you possess and that my friend is not a good one.
The plane crashed near my village Farrukh put district Mandi Bahauddin. So sad. They should have been evacuated.
It is usualy easier for the pilot to control the plane he is flying verses the owner of the bull tarrier dog or I guess the one riding a wild horse. One need to wait for the results of the enquiry of this accident, especially since the pilots did not eject from the plane.

@indian you comment does not represent my country, please change your name. You should not be sarcastic while some one lost his life. RIP PILOTS
Our Government and PAF should learn a lesson from these crashes and immediately take remedial actions.
My prayers to the pilot. Indeed it is selfless and brave act to save the lives of many while having all the chance to eject and save own life.
@indian: looks like someone forgot the flying coffins eh :P
@Anees: Its ET's sense of secularism gone overboard!
@M. Emad: What this incident has to do with 1971 war. Also, was any mass graves discovered yet where these claimed to be in thousands were burried.

@assad: Dear Assad, You are quite right, and you brought back ancient memories. I have been married for over 50 years and I clearly remember a friend of mine in the air force extolling the abilities of the Mirage jet fighter well before my marriage. Incidentally Lala Gee, I am not a supporter of military action, but Pakistan pilots are trained to a very high degree of proficiency, and are the cream of the crop. This accident was a great loss for Pakistan.
Its high time we send our pilots to China to learn how to fly.
JF17 perhaps
@Qasim: Its the system (Mirage) they are flying that is old, not the curriculum. These brave chaps are flying 50 year old Mirages because our government is broke from all the looting and corruption and cannot provide the funding to the PAF to replace these Mirages quickly enough with the newer JF-17s.
RIP to the brave pilots, may Allah bless them both!
Killed or martyed? ET?
RIP
may Allah grant them both a place in Heaven.
Inna lillah e wa inna ilaeyh e raajioon. My heart. felt condolences to the loved ones. The two pilots could have done more for the country but the will of Allah.
One of them was my brothers course mate, these are obsolete airframes which are being used beyond their life.
oh the great defence of islamic republic of pakistan.
