
According to a PAF spokesperson, both the pilot and co-pilot lost their lives as their French built Mirage aircraft crashed.
The spokesperson added that an inquiry has been launched to ascertain the cause of the crash.
No loss of civilian lives or property was reported in the area where the aircraft crashed.
Eye witnesses stated that the pilots lost their lives while trying to avoid crashing the aircraft into a populated area.
In June 2012, a Pakistani fighter jet had crashed in the south of the country while on a routine training mission, but the pilot had ejected safely and there were no casualties on the ground.
Similarly, in May 2012, a Mirage aircraft crashed near the Sonmiani region of Balochistan. The pilot survived the crash.
