12 companies qualify for Solar Park bidding

Solar energy project to be role model for the energy sector, chief minister says.

Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif said on Monday 12 companies in the energy sector had been prequalified for the Quaid-i-Azam Solar Park project. He said the park was meant to produce 100 megawatts.


Sharif said the project was unique as it was being executed with the government’s own resources. He said that work would be completed in a transparent manner. He said the solar power project would be a role model for energy sector in every respect.

Sharif expressed satisfaction with the pace of progress and appreciated the performance of the German consultant for the project, Gerone Dressman, Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park Chief Executive Officer Najam Shah, the Planning and Development Board chairman, the energy additional chief secretary and the communications and works secretary.

Dressman said the government had selected a very suitable site. He said the construction of link roads had been completed and other facilities would follow soon.

Former WAPDA chairman Tariq Hameed, MPA Ali Khokhar, Chairman Planning & Development, Additional Chief Secretary Energy, President Bank of Punjab, Managing Director NTDC, concerned secretaries and other senior officers were present.
