SUKKUR:

A minor boy was killed in a stampede during a cake cutting ceremony on the eve of 86th birth anniversary of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto in Pano Akil on Sunday.

The 86th birth anniversary of PPP’s founder and former prime minister Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was celebrated in Pano Akil and in other parts of the country. A ceremony was organised by local PPP leadership in Shahi Bazaar, where MPA Awais Shah was the chief guest.

As soon as the cake was cut, the Jiyalas ran to get their share of the cake and a scuffle took place between two groups of Jiyalas. The two groups attacked each other with chairs and as a result a 12-year-old boy Wazir Ali, son of Allah Diwayo Chachar, was wounded and died on the spot. Later, scores of Chachar clansmen gathered at the National Highway and staged a sit-in with the deceased body.

DSP Pano Akil reached the spot and assured the protestors that FIR would be registered. The protesters ended the blockade after the intervention of the police, however, no case was registered till filing of this report.

A full fledged fight with chairs over a cake????? I always knew the word Jiyala was derived from the term Jaahil. This is further proof.
