LAHORE: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) workers on Sunday cut a cake to celebrate the 86th birthday of former prime minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto at the party’s office in Sanda.

Speaking on the occasion, PPP Lahore president Samina Khalid Ghurki said Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was a statesman of international standing who devoted his life to the people of Pakistan. “He eventually sacrificed his life for them... His legacy has been carried forward by Benazir Bhutto and Bilalwal Bhutto,” she said.

Ghurki said former president Gen (r) Pervez Musharraf should face the charges against him and appear before the court. “PPP leaders have never hesitated to face the courts... Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was hanged... former president Asif Ali Zardari spent 11 years of his life behind bars,” the PPP leader said.

PPP Senior Vice president Zahid Zulfiqar, Secretary General Rana Ashar Nisar, Additional Secretary General Dewan Muhyud Din, Azizur Rehman Chan, Fazal Rehman Butt, Aamir Hassan and Iffat Butt were also present on the occasion.
