Karachi Dolphins win One Day Cup

Captain Zakir leads team to 30-run victory over Peshawar Panthers.

Karachi Dolphins captain Asif Zakir produced a top-class batting performance, scoring a magnificent unbeaten 170 off 135 balls to lead his team to a 30-run win over Peshawar Panthers in the final of the One Day Cup.

Zakir struck 20 fours and two sixes in his innings which helped the hosts amass a huge score of 319 in the 45- over match.

Mohammad Waqas (36) and Saad Ali (29) were the other important contributors to Dolphins’ total. Taj Wali claimed three expensive wickets for the Panthers, conceding 82 runs.



Panthers were in hot pursuit of the target but eventually fell 30 runs short. Israrullah scored 53 runs off 43 balls while Adil Amin chipped in with 60 off 75.

Fawad Khan and Shahzaib Khan took two wickets each for the Dolphins. Zakir, who also scored a match-winning century in the semi-final, was declared man of the match.

He also collected the winner’s trophy and a cash prize of Rs1 million on behalf of his team, while the Panthers had to be content with half a million.

Amin, who amassed 447 runs in the tournament, was declared batsman of the tournament, while Azam Khan, with a tally of 16 wickets, was named the bowler of the tournament.

Imad Wasim, with a return of 232 runs and seven wickets, was named the all-rounder of the tournament.

The total prize money for the tournament was Rs1.7 million.
